The Scottish Ancestry report commissioned by John Latta Wighton and Ella Peterson listed a daughter Ann, born to John Wighton and Ann (Baxter) Wighton. However, I could not find that record when I first tried to confirm Ann's birth. Information from Amy Louisa Hutcheon suggested that there were only two daughters - one named Barbara Baxter and the other named Mary Ann. The Scottish Ancestry report, however, said that there were three daughters - Barbara Baxter, Elizabeth Taylor, and Ann. I thought perhaps that Ann and Mary Ann were the same person, but I found census records that suggested that Mary Ann was born at least several years later than Ann. It looked entirely possible that John and Ann Wighton had had 5 children, and not 4 as originally thought.

In subsequent research, a wild card search in the ScotlandPeople's Database brought up Ann's birth record under the name Ann Wrighton. She was born October 14, 1833 to John Wrighton and Ann Baxter in Dundee - almost as the Scottish Ancestry report had said. They had missed Mary Ann's birth because her last name had been misspelled as well.

Ann died August 1, 1834 at the age of 10 months from hydrocephalus, or as it was known at that time - Water in the Head. She was buried in Howff Cemetery in Dundee.
